TV Host, Morayo Brown Nigerian television persona and presenter, Morayo Afolabi Brown has responded to the ongoing controversy surrounding well-known gender-fluid individual, Bobrisky.

It was reported that on Sunday evening, celebrities gathered at Circle Mall, Lekki for the debut of Ajanaku: Beast of Two Worlds, a film produced by Eniola Ajao.

With the various remarkable ensembles at the film debut, Bobrisky emerged as the Best Dressed Female, causing astonishment amongst many.

As a result of this achievement, the crossdresser was awarded one million naira.

Reacting to the backlash surrounding Bobrisky’s victory, Morayo Brown expressed during the most recent episode of Your View that Nigerians do not possess the authority to critique Bobrisky.

Providing rationale for her stance, she emphasized that as long as the crossdresser has not violated any laws, they should be granted freedom.

Morayo further questioned why Nigerians feel outraged by Bobrisky, highlighting how the crossdresser has undergone surgical procedures to transition gender. “Bobrisky exemplifies the Nigerian dilemma.

On one hand, Nigerians express disapproval towards this attitude and claim that engaging in same-sex relationships is punishable by 14 years in prison (there is no legislation against crossdressing), but on the other hand, we tiptoe around it.

When Bobrisky participates in a competition, why do we find it offensive that they have altered their genitalia and identify as a woman? This is my perspective:

as long as they have not transgressed any laws or faced legal consequences, we do not have the right to scrutinize them for winning a competition that they willingly competed in.”
